Central Louisiana Chamber of Commerce, Alexandria, Louisiana, July 25, 2012 -- The Rapides Parish School Board has begun its search for a new Superintendent with the assistance of a Community Advisory Committee. The committee met with the School Board Superintendent Search Committee on Tuesday, July 17 to discuss the selection process and the role of the community advisors. School Board President Wilton Barrios said the committee will assist in gathering input from concerned citizens and reporting it to the School Board. Barrios instructed the Community Advisory Committee to choose a chairperson to serve as a liaison with the School Board.
At a brief meeting after the School Board adjourned, the advisory committee members elected Deborah Randolph and Levator Boyd as co-chairs. Members of the Community Advisory Committee include Reginald Ingram, Roy O. Martin III, Linda McMahon, Joe Rosier, Diane Beaubouef, Harold Elliot and Linda Venson. Additional members are expected to attend future meetings.
The School Board will provide the general public with an opportunity to learn more about the selection process and to make comments and suggestions at three public forums. The dates and locations of the public forums will be announced soon. The next meeting of the Community Advisory Committee will be held today at the Central Louisiana Chamber of Commerce.
