UTLX, Chicago IL, January 11, 2006 -- Union Tank Car Company help wanted ads will begin to appear in Central Louisiana newspapers on Sunday.  UTLX Manufacturing, Inc. will begin hiring for every hourly position and many salaried positions to fully staff the Company's manufacturing expansion at Alexandria.  The hiring is in anticipation of a manufacturing launch in March, when the new plant is expected to be functional.  Hiring will continue through fourth quarter 2006, when staffing should be adequate for current production goals.

"The hiring process will be measured and deliberate, in response to scheduled production increases," said Dave Lawrence, Human Resources Manager for the new facility.  "Actual hiring will lead production enough that new employees can receive orientation training before they begin working on the cars.  We expect to start bringing people on board by March 1."

 Job applicants for all hourly positions should register at any of the Louisiana Department of Labor State One-Stop Employment Centers or on-line at http://www.laworks.net/.  The DOL will schedule registrants promptly for applicable proficiency tests.  Passport Welders who are already enrolled in the process will be contacted and invited to the One-Stop to fill out an application.  Salaried job seekers should submit their resumes, electronically, to the Union Tank Car site listed in the recruitment ads for that purpose -- careersalex@utlx.com  Union tank Car Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

"We have been extremely satisfied with the response to our ads," said Lawrence.  "We have hired seven very-qualified maintenance people.  We will need about 35.  The response to our ads for engineers was also impressive.  We have filled all the manufacturing engineering positions.  We are still interviewing project engineers."
